According to Aberdeen Parks and Rec, mosquitoes in Aberdeen have tested positive for the West Nile virus.

Tests have been conducted on the mosquito populations for weeks by the parks department, specifically geared toward the Culex Tarsalis mosquito which is the most common carrier of the disease.

The city sprays for mosquitoes, but there are things residents can do to help battle the bugs.  That includes limiting outdoor activity, especially near dusk, wear long sleeve and pants while outside, wear bug repellent and remove standing water from your property.
