The Mosquito Control Division of the City of Aberdeen will do a city wide spraying for Mosquitoes on Wednesday, July 11, 2018 between the hours of 8:00 PM and 1:00 A M. If the weather is not favorable to spray on Wednesday we will spray Thursday. The adulticiding equipment is noisy and travels at 10 mph. The mosquito control trucks are identified and travel with a flashing yellow lights.
To ensure spray effectiveness during the spraying operations, the wind must be 10 mph or less and no inclement weather present. Winds higher than 10 mph or inclement weather will result in the spraying being suspended until conditions improve.
West Nile virus has been identified in Aberdeen and city officials urge citizens to take extra precautions to avoid being bitten by mosquitoes. The Mosquito Control Division’s surveillance program has tested Mosquito Pools that were positive for West Nile Virus. You can reduce the risk of getting West Nile virus by eliminating mosquito habitat around our property, applying insect repellents and wearing proper clothing when outdoors.
