Fatal Crashes:

 

At 6:24 p.m. Wednesday, Sturgis Road, one mile west of Blackhawk: A motorcycle was westbound on Sturgis Road approaching the intersection with Kimberly Drive when the male driver failed to negotiate a curve in the roadway. The motorcycle went off the roadway into the north ditch and down an embankment through a fence. The driver, 39, was pronounced dead at the scene. He was not wearing a helmet.

 

Injury Crashes:

 

At 4:30 p.m. Wednesday, U.S. Highway 14A, mile marker 28, 17 miles south of Spearfish: Motorcycle was traveling on U.S. 14A when the driver lost control of the motorcycle. The motorcycle entered the ditch and the driver was thrown from the motorcycle. The male driver, 48, suffered minor injuries. He was not wearing a helmet.

 

At 6:02 p.m. Wednesday, Interstate 90, mile marker 53, three miles west of Rapid City: The motorcycle was eastbound on Interstate 90 when it collided with a deer that had entered the roadway. The male drive, 71, suffered serious non-life threatening injuries. He was not wearing a helmet.

 

At 7:12 p.m. Wednesday, U.S. Highway 14A, mile marker 35, two miles south of Lead: The motorcycle was northbound on U.S. Highway 14A went it collided with a deer that had entered the roadway. The male driver, 53, was thrown from the motorcycle. The driver suffered minor injuries. He was wearing a helmet.
