A 36-year-old man from Edmonton Alberta, Canada, has been identified as the person who died Friday in a one-vehicle crash east of Bonesteel.

 

Jagdish Singh was the passenger in a 2014 Volvo semi-truck and trailer which was northbound on U.S. Highway 281 when the driver lost control as the vehicle entered a curve. The semi-truck and trailer rolled into the west ditch.

 

The deceased was thrown from the truck and was pronounced dead at the scene. He was not wearing a seatbelt.

 

Gurpreet Brar, 32, of Edmonton, Alberta, Canada, was the driver. He sustained serious non-life injuries.  He was wearing a seatbelt and was taken by ambulance to the hospital in Wagner. Charges are pending against the driver.

 

South Dakota’s Highway Patrol is investigating the crash.

 

The Highway Patrol is part of the South Dakota Department of Public Safety.
