Northern State University will hold a ribbon-cutting ceremony for its two new residence halls at 1 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 27, during the annual Gypsy Days celebration.

Great Plains East and Great Plains West both opened this fall on the Northern campus. The ceremony, which is open to the public, will be held on the Great Plains East Patio.

Great Plains East, located south of the Gerber Building, features a pod-style design and also includes a Provisions on Demand (POD) convenience store and a Papa John’s Pizza.

Great Plains West, which was built at the former site of Lindberg Hall, includes suite-style rooms as well as a multi-purpose room that can be used for game cleaning.

These two halls as well as Wolves Memorial Suites, which opened in fall 2017, offer a total of almost 450 new beds on campus – meaning more than half of Northern’s residence hall occupants now live in new facilities.
