Northern Minnesota experienced record setting temperatures Sunday. According to the national weather service, temperatures reached 89 degrees in Brainerd Sunday, beating the old record of 82 set in 2015. The average temperature for northern Minnesota at this point of the year is 69 degrees. International Falls also hit a new high Sunday with 87 degrees, up from 85 degrees set back in 1922. Colder temperatures are expected to push that heat out of the area this week.
