Two former Republican South Dakota Attorney Generals have come out endorsing Democrat Randy Seiler in the 2018 election. Mark Meierhenry and Roger Tellinghuisen released a joint statement, explaining their endorsement of Seiler, calling him the most qualified candidate to be South Dakota’s next attorney general. Meierhenry served as AG from 1978 to 1986 while Tellinghuisen served from 1987 to 1991.
The statement reads as follows:
“As Republicans and former attorneys general, we are asking that you support the best qualified candidate to be South Dakota’s next attorney general,” the statement said. “This year that candidate is Randy Seiler, a Democrat and an experienced prosecutor, who has served as our state’s U.S. Attorney. We know from experience that this is an important job and that is why we are supporting Randy Seiler this November.”
