Former Supreme Court Justice Sandra Day O’Conner has announced she has been diagnosed with the beginning stages of dementia, which is a possible preamble to Alzheimer’s.  O’Conner is now 88 years old and was the first female on the US Supreme court, nominated and confirmed in 1981 by President Ronald Reagan.  She retired from the bench in 2006 to help take care of her ailing husband who also suffered with Alzheimer’s.
