The Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference released today the 2018 NSIC Preseason Coaches' Poll, with the Northern State Wolves picked fourth overall in the league. NSU garnered 176 total points, sitting behind Concordia-St. Paul, Southwest Minnesota State, and Minnesota Duluth.

 

The Northern State University volleyball team enters the 2018 campaign after a third place finish in the NSIC league standings and a trip to the NCAA Regional Tournament in 2017. The Wolves remained a member of the AVCA Top-25 Poll throughout the year, finishing at No. 12 overall. They downed five top-25 opponents on the year, including a 3-1 win at home over No. 1 Southwest Minnesota State. Four Wolves were named to the NSIC All-Conference first team in Ashley RozellHailey BuschJenna Reiff, and Laura Snyder, with Snyder also grabbing NSIC Freshman of the Year honors. Busch became the third AVCA All-American in school history, after the leading the team in kills. NSU welcomes seven incoming freshman this season, while returning five of six starters and libero Jaiden Langlie from a season ago.

 

Rozell was nabbed as the team's player to watch in 2018 after being named to the NSIC All-Conference first team and CoSIDA Academic All-District® team in 2017. She accumulated 1,244 total assists, ranking eight nationally with an 11.85 assist per set average. Rozell led the team and the NSIC with 56 service aces in 2017, averaging over two per set. She ranked 14th nationally in aces per set, 31st nationally in total assists, and 15th nationally in total service aces.
