Longtime football coach John Gagliardi passed away Sunday in his home in Collegeville Minnesota. He was 91 years old. Gagliardi was the winngest coach in college football history, compiling a record of 489-138-11 over a 63-year-career. He coach at the small Division III/NAIA program of Saint John’s in central Minnesota for 59 of those years until his retirement in 2012. Gaglaiardi won 2 NAIA national championships and two NCAA Division II national championships. He was known for his unique practice philosophy which included no hitting and other more liberal ideas about how to get ready for gameday.
