The Aberdeen Wings defeated the Fairbanks Ice Dogs last night in Blaine Minnesota to win the franchises first ever Robertson Cup national championship.  The game was one-game only winner take all.  Scoring for Aberdeen in the win included John Sladic and Joe Strada.   Wings goaltender Matt Vernon was awarded the Robertson Cup Most Valuable Player Award.  In the championship game, Vernon managed 27 of 28 saves to seal victory.  The Wings become the 17th franchise to win the Robertson Cup since it was first awarded in the 1970s. 

 

Following the victory, the NAHL released the Robertson Cup All-tournament team which featured Aberdeen Wings forward Jonathan Bendorf and goaltender Matt Vernon.
