Roberts County Sheriff’s office finds needle in coffee during traffic stop

The Roberts County Sheriff’s office reports a suspect attempted to hide a hypodermic needle in his coffee while officers conducted a traffic stop.

The incident occurred Monday near Peever. Deputies responded to calls about a vehicle with an equipment violation. Officers allege the suspect appeared to be under the influence and a K9 unit was brought in.

The search allegedly uncovered the hypodermic needle in the coffee and more illegal drugs in the vehicle.

The suspect was identified as a North Dakota man, Richard Fleming and now faces charges including possession of a controlled substance (methamphetamine), possession of marijuana under two ounces, drug paraphernalia, obstruction and possession of a dangerous weapon with intent to commit a felony.
