Two people in Brookings have been arrested for animal abuse. According to the Brookings County Police Department, officers were called Friday to a home near the intersection of 6th street and 12th avenue. Upon arrival officers allege they found 12 dogs and a child living in unsanitary conditions. The dogs and child were removed from the home and charges and pending against unidentified suspects. The Department of Social Services and a veterinary clinic were brought in to assist in the case.
