A South Dakota House committee Monday killed a bill which would have reimbursed school districts that provide free or reduced meals to students. HB1042 was sponsored by Rep. Kadyn Wittman of Sioux Falls and was defeated via a 8-7 vote in the House Education Committee.
Had this bill become law the state legislature would appropriate money to cover school districts who have some students unable to pay their lunch debt.
