The Aberdeen City Council at its Monday meeting approved $1.25 million in its promotional fund allocation for 2024. The money comes from a one percent tax the city levies on restaurant meals, alcohol sales and hotel stays. That money is then used to help promote the city and market activities. Getting the largest sum of that money includes the Aberdeen Convention and Visitors Bureau who will receive $485,000 of the $1.25 million and Northern State University which gets $185,000.

Aberdeen Community Theatre: $30,000
Aberdeen Swim Club: $10,000
Aberdeen Community Concert Association: $2,000
