The Aberdeen Police Department apprehended a suspect following a brief standoff Sunday. According to the Aberdeen Police Department the incident occurred in the 1500 block of South Washington Street when officers received reports of a suicidal individual. Upon arrival officers allege they heard gunshots and found the suspect holding a pistol outside the residents. Following a peaceful negotiation the individual surrendered safely and was placed on a mental illness hold.
