Aberdeen public school district to host “Rachel’s Challenge” event Wednesday

The Aberdeen Public School District invites the public to attend a community presentation that aims to promote kindness and prevent bullying.

The Rachel’s Challenge presentation will take place at 7 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 30, at Central High School, 2200 S. Roosevelt St.

Rachel’s Challenge honors the legacy of compassion left behind by Rachel Scott, one of the victims of the 1999 Columbine High School shooting. Each year, the nonprofit organization holds school and community presentations in an effort to promote kindness and prevent school violence and bullying.

The Aberdeen Public School District partners with the United Way of Northeastern South Dakota to bring this powerful initiative to the local community. This year, it’s coinciding with the launch of a community action project by CHS senior Breanna Wollman, a Bezos Scholar

Wollman will discuss her project, which builds on the CHS Golden Hour community service program, at the Aug. 30 presentation.

To learn more about the project or the Rachel’s Challenge presentation, contact Central High School at 605-725-8100.
