Abortion opinions split across South Dakota according to new poll

South Dakota News Watch in partnership with Chiesman Center for Democracy has released a new poll regarding abortion rights in South Dakota. 500 voters were surveyed in this poll, finding 45.6 percent of respondents support the proposed measure enshrining Roe vs. Wade into South Dakota’s constitution. 43.6 percent say they oppose the measure while 10.8 percent remain undecided. The margin of error for the poll is 4.5 percent. Looking further into the data, 40.6 percent of women surveyed support a constitutional right to an abortion, while 50.2 percent oppose and 9.2 percent undecided. Of the men surveyed 51 percent were in favor of the measure while 36.9 percent were opposed and 12 percent remain undecided.
