The ACLU of Iowa has filed a lawsuit against the state in federal court over a bill which allows book banning and a bill limiting instruction relating to gender identity and sexual orientation. The second bill, critics have dubbed the “don’t say gay” law. These laws went into effect at the beginning of the school year. Iowa Governor Kim Reynolds claims the bill is meant to protect children from pornography and sexually explicit content.
