South Dakota Attorney General Marty Jackley has released his explanation for a proposed ballot measure that would protect other ballot measures passed by voters. Should the ballot measure in question pass as it is explained by Jackley, the South Dakota legislature could not amend or repeal ballot measures passed by the voters for seven years. Aberdeen’s own Brian Bengs, who ran for the US Senate against John Thune this past election, authored the measure and now needs to collect 35,017 valid signatures to qualify the measure for the 2024 election.
