The South Dakota Attorney General’s office is investigating a homicide which occurred in rural Grant County Sunday. According to authorities, 34-year-old Douglas Lindberg Jr. was killed around 6:12 p.m. Officers were called to a rural grant county home in regards to an assault. Upon arrival the victim was found injured and later died as a result of his injuries. Arrested in this case is 33-year-old Joseph Bendel and faces second degree murder charges, aggravated assault and has several outstanding warrants. Court documents allege the two men were working on a vehicle together when a fight broke out. Ultimately Bendel allegedly struck Lindberg Jr. in the head with a pipe five or six times. Medical diagnosis concluded Lindberg jr. suffered from skull fractures, broken ribs and two collapsed lungs.
