American author Cormac McCarthy passed away Tuesday at the age of 89. Born in Providence Rhode Island McCarthy was widely considered one of the greatest modern American authors, who’s career focused mainly on Westerns and postapocalyptic genres. He was known in his works for his depictions of graphic violence, a unique writing style and sparse use of punctuation. Throughout his career he wrote twelve novels, two plays, five screen plays and three short stories. Some of those works include Blood Meridian, No Country for Old Men, The Road and his last novel Stella Maris published December 6 2022.
