Famous Hollywood director David Lynch has passed away at the age of 78. Lynch’s family posted about his passing on social media Thursday. Lynch is known for hit films which often featured surreal or dreamlike qualities to them including “The Elephant Man”, “Blue Velvet”, “Mullholland Drive”, “Eraserhead”, “Wild At Heart”, and he created the hit television show “Twin Peaks”. A Missoula Montana native, Lynch first rose to fame with his cult independent film “Eraserhead” before receiving mainstream acclaim for films such as the Elephant man and Blue Velvet. A long time smoker, Lynch announced he had been diagnosed with emphysema in 2024.
