Authorities investigating teenager’s death at worksite in rural Brookings county

Authorities in Brookings county are investigating the workplace death of a teenager. According to the Brooking’s County Sheriff’s Department, the incident occurred Tuesday afternoon at a gravel pit west of Bushnell. Bushnell is a small town located just nine miles east of Brookings. The deceased has been identified as 19-year-old Izak Wixon. Wixon was working near a large piece of machinery when an unspecified accident occurred. Along with local authorities, federal authorities including the Mine Safety and Health Administration is investigating the matter further.
