(KXLG – Watertown, SD) Julian Huffman, 28, of Brookings, SD, was sentenced Tuesday to 21 months in federal prison for making dozens of $20 federal reserve notes and passing them at several businesses in and near Brookings, SD.

Restitution and forfeiture were ordered, along with three years of supervised release and a special Federal Crime Victims Fund assessment for $100.

The conviction stemmed from incidents between September 9, 2022 – November 21, 2022, and a federal grand jury indicted him in December 2022.

The Brookings Police Department and the U.S. Secret Service investigated the case. Assistant U.S. Attorney Ann M. Hoffman prosecuted the case.
