Brown county resident Logan Manhart has announced via his social media he plans to seek a seat in the South Dakota State House representing District 1 running as a Republican. Manhart attempted to run for that same seat last election cycle, but withdrew his candidacy when it came to light did not meet the state’s residency requirement to run for public office, as he had relocated to Wisconsin for school and voted in Wisconsin elections. In the announcement Manhart highlighted his support for the 2nd amendment, local law enforcement and family values. Currently representing District 1 are two fellow Republicans Joe Donnell and Tamara St. John. The two incumbents have not yet made a public announcement if they will seek re-election, but if they do Manhart would face off with them in a Republican primary before a general election.
