Castlewood, SD woman identified as person killed in Roberts county fatal accident

A Castlewood, S.D. woman has been identified as the person who died Sunday from injuries sustained in a two-vehicle crash Saturday, 15 miles south of Sisseton, S.D.

Preliminary crash information indicates a 2014 Chevrolet Equinox was traveling northbound on Whipple Road.  A 2012 John Deere Gator was traveling north on Whipple road and turned on their blinker to turn left into an approach.  The Equinox went to pass the Gator and the front passenger side of the Equinox struck the front driver side of the Gator as it was turning.

The driver of the Chevrolet Equinox, Ignacio Galarza, age 31, received minor injuries.

He was not wearing a seatbelt.

The driver of the John Deere Gator, Heidi Mack, age 37, was taken to Coteau des Prairies hospital Saturday.  She passed away due to injuries from the crash on Sunday evening.

She was not wearing a seatbelt.

South Dakota’s Highway Patrol is investigating the crash. All information released so far is only preliminary.

The Highway Patrol is an agency of the South Dakota Department of Public Safety.
