County music star who also turned actor Kris Kristofferson passed away Saturday according to his family. In a statement the family released, Kristofferson died at his home in Maui Hawaii at the age of 88. Kristofferson was a Rhodes scholar who left the world of education to become one of the most prolific songwriters of his generation and helped develop the outlaw country scene of the 1960s. He was known for writing such hits as “Sunday Morning Coming Down”, “Help Me Make It Through the Night”, “Me and Bobby McGee” and more. He was also an actor known for roles in Pat Garrett and Billy The Kid, A Star is Born, Heaven’s Gate and the Blade films.
