South Dakota’s Crazy Horse memorial monument will celebrate its 75th anniversary this weekend. Saturday June 3rd marks the day of the first blasts to build the monument to the Oglala Lakota leader Crazy Horse. The monument if completed would be the second tallest statue in the world, behind only the Statue of Unity in India. It is completely funded through private donations, with the Crazy Horse Memorial Fund refusing all state and federal dollars.
