Dan Lederman steps down as state GOP chair

(Gowatertown.net – Watertown, SD) Dan Lederman has announced that he will not seek re-election to another term as Chairman of the South Dakota Republican Party. Lederman has led the GOP State Committee for six years.

In a statement, Lederman said, “I’m proud of our accomplishments. South Dakota Republicans focused on electing strong leaders who brought visionary economic policies that have benefited the families of our great state.”

Lederman was first elected as State Party Chair in February 2017. Since Lederman became State Party Chair, the Republican Party has made historic state legislative gains and has grown Republican voter registration by nearly 50,000 people.

District Four State Senator John Wiik of Big Stone City tells KWAT News he will seek to become Lederman’s replacement.

The position will be filled in January at the Republican Party’s Central Committee meeting in Pierre.
