Democrat gubernatorial candidate Jamie Smith responded to Governor Kristi Noem and other state lawmakers, announcing late last week there would be no special session of the South Dakota legislature to address abortion following the overturning of Roe vs. Wade. Candidate Smith claims Governor Noem abandoned calls for a special session out of quote “political convenience” Candidate Smith says lawmakers and the people are being denied the opportunity to discuss the state’s abortion laws, calling the move “unacceptable.”
