Democrat state party chair faces recall vote

The South Dakota Democratic Party Central Committee has announced an emergency meeting has been scheduled for August 19th at 11:00 a.m. Regarding a recall vote of current party chair and Aberdeen resident Jennifer Slaight-Hansen. The recall process began on August 3rd. The meeting will be held at Drifter’s in Fort Pierre. The state party called on Slaight-Hansen to resign by the end of July following allegations she violated four parts of the state party constitution and created a hostile work environment. More recently, state party executive director Dan Ahlers resigned in protest at the beginning of August.
