Film director William Friedkin passed away Monday at his home in Los Angeles. He was 87 years old. Still working in his late 80’s, his last film “The Caine Mutiny Court-Marital” staring Kiefer Sutherland is set to premier at the Venice Film Festival. Born in Chicago Illinois, Friedkin was known for his work in the “New Hollywood” movement of the 1970s. He’s probably best known for directing the horror movie classic “The Exorcist.” His film “The French Connection” in 1971 won five academy awards including best picture, and best director.
