Newly elected District 1 Representative Chris Reder plans to resign from the position before being sworn in. According to the Aberdeen Insider, Reder made the announcement from a text message from Reder to other state lawmakers. In the message he says the decision comes due to quote circumstances, other fears and things beyond his control.” Reder won a two year term to serve in the House of Representatives representing District one which encompasses rural Brown county and much of the northeast corner of the state. He received 26 percent of the vote, defeating two Democrats and two Libertarians for the spot. If he goes through with this resignation, whoever is serving as Governor at the time will make an appointment to serve out the term.
