Doctors for freedom announces advocacy for Amendment G

A new coalition of medical professionals has announced its intentions to support Amendment G this coming November election. Amendment G would codify a woman’s right to an abortion into the South Dakota constitution. Doctors for Freedom is a group of doctors, nurses, EMTs, first responders and other healthcare professionals who oppose South Dakota’s current laws surrounding abortion. Abortions in South Dakota are illegal in all situations other than to protect the life of the mother. This coalition comes just weeks after another coalition was formed calling itself Republicans for Freedom Amendment G, which as the name states is a group of Republicans seeking to support Amendment G. South Dakota’s State Medical Association, the state’s largest organization representing practicing physicians, residents, medical students and retired physicians has announced it will remain neutral when it comes to Amendment G.
