The Flandreau Santee Sioux Tribe Tuesday voted to ban Governor Kristi Noem from entering their land. The announcement comes following an emergency meeting held over the weekend regarding the matter. The ban stems from comments Governor Noem made, and has since defended and stood by, claiming Mexican drug cartels are operating on tribal land in South Dakota, with the protection of tribal leaders, for the benefit of said tribal leadership. All nine of South Dakota’s native American tribes have now banned the governor. She cannot enter over 20 percent of the state’s land. The tribes have demanded Governor Noem provide proof of her cartel allegations or apologize.
