Former Coyote track athlete Chris Nilsen claims silver at the 2022 World Athletics Track and Field Championships

Former University of South Dakota track and field athlete Chris Nilsen took the silver medal in the pole vault at the 2022 World Athletics Track and Field championships Sunday evening at Hayward Field in Eugene Oregon. This is Nilsen’s third world championship medal within the last 12 months including taking home a silver medal at the pandemic-delayed 2020 Tokyo Olympics last August and a bronze at the 2022 World Indoor championships in Serbia. To claim silver he cleared 19 feet, 5 and 3/4s inches on his first attempt. Swedish Pole Vaulter Armand Duplantis took home the gold.
