Former president Donald Trump won the first in the nation Iowa caucuses Monday night, walking away with 51 percent of the vote.
Florida Governor Ron DeSantis came in second place with 21 percent of the vote, former UN Ambassador Nikki Haley came in third with 19 percent of the vote and entrepreneur Vivek Ramaswamy came in fourth with 8 percent of the vote. No one else cracked one percent.
With these results Trump collects 20 delegates, DeSantis eight, Haley seven and Ramaswamy three.
Following his performance, Ramaswamy has suspended his presidential campaign.
The next event will be the New Hampshire Primary on January 23rd.
South Dakota Governor Kristi Noem, who campaigned for Trump in Iowa, released a statement Monday night, saying Iowa spoke clearly, and that Trump got more votes than all the other candidates combined.
