Former Redfield daycare provider sentenced to 120 in prison on child abuse charges

A former daycare provider in Redfield has been sentenced to five years in prison, all but 120 days suspended after pleading guilty to felony child abuse charges in Spink County. 40-year-old Heather Roach faced sentencing Tuesday. Court documents show Roach was involved in an incident involving a minor in December of 2020. Roach ultimately admitted to slapping a 15-month-old child in the face. She was indicted this January and pleaded guilty in April as part of a plea agreement. Roach has also been ordered to pay $1,117 in fines and court costs. She is also no long allowed to have unsupervised contact with minors who are not her children.
