Game Fish and Parks caps non-resident turkey hunting licenses

The South Dakota Game Fish and Parks Commission at its meeting Thursday gave final approval for a new proposal capping non-resident turkey hunting licenses in the Black Hills at lower levels than before. Non residential licenses will now be capped at 2,225. Before this they were unlimited. There will be no cap on residential Black Hills turkey hunting licenses. South Dakota hunters have complained in recent years its getting harder to find good public hunting land and they should not have to compete with as many out of state hunters. The Commission is also considering raising prices accross the board for hunting, fishing and state park visitor passes. A public hearing on that will be Thursday Oct. 3rd.
