Gov. Noem appoints Becky Drury to serve as state representative for District 34

South Dakota Governor Kristi Noem has appointed Becky Drury to represent District 34 in the South Dakota House of Representatives. She replaces former lawmaker Jess Olson who announced her resignation late in 2023. Drury has served in the state legislature representing District 32 since January of 2021 but has since moved into District 34. She had to resign from her District 32 position to take this one, leaving Governor Noem with another vacancy to fill. Governor Noem has taken her time to fill these vacancies due to waiting on the State Supreme Court to give its opinion on a state constitution amendment regarding conflicts of interest and state lawmakers.
