In her top ten inspired list of accomplishments for the State of the State Address Tuesday, Gov. Kristi Noem emphasized education—and a proposal to use taxpayer dollars to fund education savings accounts that could be used on private education and homeschooling.
Noem also mentioned that despite dealing with numerous natural disasters during her term, the state is better prepared for future problems.
The address is likely one of Noem’s last official acts as governor.
Wednesday, she appears before a U.S. Senate committee for her confirmation hearing as Secretary of Homeland Security.
