South Dakota Governor Kristi Noem not only won re-election this past Tuesday, she set a new record in the process. Governor Noem was re-elected receiving 217,014 votes. That is the most votes received by a candidate in South Dakota history. She broke the old record set by Governor Mike Rounds who received 206,990 votes. According to the Secretary of State’s office 354,670 votes were cast in this election of 597,073 active voters. That means there was 59.40 percent voter turnout.
