A Gregory man will effectively serve the rest of his life in prison following a sentence Friday. According to the South Dakota Attorney General’s Office, 56-year-old Alec Dostal Sr. was sentenced to 50-years in prison with 20 years suspended after pleading guilty but mentally ill to one count of first-degree manslaughter. Dostal Sr. was indicted following a February 2022 accident where he collided with a John Deere side-by-side killing one person. He was drunk at the time of the accident and had five prior DUI convictions including two felony convictions.
