(KXLG – Watertown, SD) Hamlin County Sheriff’s Office reported yesterday that on Thursday, December 14, 2023, around 8:54 p.m., there was a report of a vehicle in the ditch and smoke coming from the vehicle. It was reported that while on the phone with Watertown Regional Dispatch Center, the caller reported something had blown up, and the vehicle was now on fire. The Lake Norden Fire Department, Hayti Fire Department, and Lake Norden Ambulance, along with law enforcement from the Hamlin County Sheriff’s Office and Lake Norden Police Department, were dispatched to the scene at 193rd Street just east of US Highway 81 (just over four miles east of Lake Norden).Nobody was inside the vehicle during the fire, and no injuries were reported. The Hamlin County Sheriff’s Office investigated the incident.
