(KCCR – Pierre, SD) A Hughes County man has pleaded not guilty to a number of charges related to a stand-off with law enforcement on March 7th near Spring Creek. Fifty-two year-old Henry Jacobson pleaded not guilty Monday to five counts of Aggravated Assault against Law Enforcement; each charge carrying a maximum penalty of 25 years in prison. Jacobson also pleaded not guilty to Commission of a Felony with a Firearm; both Aggravated and Simple Assault-Domestic Violence; Reckless Discharge of a Firearm and Possession of a Loaded Firearm while Intoxicated. Jacobson’s attorney David Siebrasse requested a furlough for Jacobson from the Hughes County Jail so that he could see his ailing father. Siebrasse requested Jacobson’s mother to facilitate the visit, but Sixth Circuit Judge Bobbi Rank agreed to a one-hour furlough to be supervised by the Hughes County Sheriff’s Office. Jacobson requested a jury trial. A trial date was not set, but a motions hearing was scheduled for early May. A bond hearing could be a part of the May hearing.
