Karly Winter named next Brown County State’s Attorney. Will begin the job in July

The Brown County Commission announced at its Tuesday meeting Karly Winter has been hired to serve as the new Brown County State’s Attorney. She will begin the job in July. Until then, former judge Mark Anderson will serve in the position on an interim basis. Winter will replace Ernest Thompson who is the current state’s attorney but will be leaving at the end of this week to begin a new job with the South Dakota Attorney General’s office. Winter worked in the Brown County State’s Attorney’s office for eight years before leaving in 2019.
