Republican state senate candidate Joel Koskan could avoid jail time if the court agrees to the agreement struck with the defendant and prosecutors. Koskan has been accused of rape by his adopted daughter according to the Mitchell Daily Republic. Koskan has agreed to plead guilty to one charge of exposing a minor to foreseeable harm, a class four felony with a maximum sentence of 10 years in prison. However, prison time will be suspended entirely.
Instead Koskan will pay court costs, obey all laws prior to entincing, complete a psycho sexual assessment, pay for the victims therapy, support the victim financially and have no contact with the victim.
Koskan lost his state senate race Tuesday night to Shawn Bordeaux 58 percent to 42 percent.
