Lake Norden fire, police and ambulance departments destroyed by fire

(Gowatertown.net – Watertown, SD) A building that was home to Lake Norden’s police, fire and ambulance departments was destroyed by fire Wednesday morning.

The call came in around 5:30, with fire departments from Lake Norden, Estelline, Hayti, Badger, Castlewood, and Bryant all responding.

When crews arrived, flames were pouring out of the roof of the building. It took them about two-and-a-half hours to get the fire under control.

The loss extended beyond the building. Lake Norden also lost four fire trucks and two ambulances in the fire.

One fire truck was saved, and it was needed later in the day to respond to a grass fire.

There were no injuries. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
