Land owners express concerns about Summit Carbon Solutions letter regarding CO2 pipeline

Some land owners expressed concerns about a letter sent to them by Summit Carbon Solutions about a proposed carbon sequestration pipeline proposed to be built through northeast South Dakota. The letter was discussed at the regular Brown County Commission meeting Tuesday.

Former county commissioner Dennis Feickert of rural Aberdeen shared the final paragraph of the letter with commissioners. The letter purportedly expressed Summit’s desire to continue working with landowners to voluntarily sign easements allowing the project, but would go to the courts if necessary after Summit received permits for the project from the state Public Utilities commission.

Feickert said he felt the letter was a scare tactic…

Another landowner Brown County land owner Jared Bossley reiterated Feickert’s feelings about the letter…
